Tony Nicolini, a Budini co-founder, pioneered the introduction of Bandag’s precured retreading technology to Brazil, becoming the first distributor in the country. This innovation was groundbreaking for the time.
By 1983, Budini had assembled a dedicated team of researchers, testers, programmers, and fleet partners to develop the first tire management system. This marked the beginning of our commitment to data-driven solutions.
Tire management quickly became a distinct division within the retreading company. This close collaboration and information sharing forged strong partnerships between Budini and its fleet customers. Through these partnerships, we identified specific needs and developed numerous tire information systems to address them.
Budini expanded into the U.S.—the world’s largest market—demonstrating that our tire management expertise could successfully serve even larger fleets with more complex operations than those in the Brazilian market (the world’s second largest).
Speeding up and ensuring the accuracy of tire survey information became a primary focus. The early 1990s saw the introduction of electronic data gathering methods like RFIDs, bar code scanning and electronic air pressure gauges, connected seamlessly with Budini’s Survey and Tire Management systems.
Bandag South Africa and TreadSetters in Kenya.
Budini launched AUDIT Electronic Tire Inspection Tools, made in the U.S.A. in conjunction with IMI, which were the first wireless, integrated, and automated tire data collection and automatic inflation system.
Late 1990s and 2000s – Going wireless
With the advent of Bluetooth, Budini integrated apps and data collection tools for Windows CE (Pocket PCs). Over the following decade, as smartphones became widespread, the entire operation transitioned to a web-based, mobile-compatible platform.
